Botanical Garden 20… Camellias are blooming

I’ve drawn and painted Camellias for as long as I can remember they were my Daddy’s favorite flower and we had several bushes growing around the house as I grew up and  one of the nice things about living here in the Piedmont of Northeast Georgia is the Camellias start to bloom in the late fall and they become splashes of color and contrast in the understory as it slowly takes on the browns and grays of the upcoming season. We don’t have white winters here, our landscape takes on the tones and tints that seem to reflect the color of our red clay.
