I’m thrilled to be thriving on art all through the daylight and the dark-of-night hours, only to go off and snatch too few hours of rest, dreaming of the art I want to challenge me tomorrow.
I often think that there is something more to do. I visualize the next work. I search my visual library. Dreaming of the next piece and how I want it to be. What is the journey? what is the path? What is the story?
I’ve been working from photographs, sketches and other sources quite a lot lately. Pulling an image together from different sources is a challenge unto itself. I try to create a cohesive whole out a visual and mental collage. It’s about piecing together the dream. There is a compulsive side to my nature. I think all artists have this to varying degrees along with the obsession. It’s not a bad thing as long as we don’i allow it to warp our lives way out of proportion.
I started this painting using a reed pen to draw on soaked paper. Then I reinforced the structure with a brush and ultramarine blue adding medium yellow, dioxazine purple, red, orange, white and bright blue.
