violet study
(acrylic on muslin)
Since I’ve been painting with acrylics again after a long break I wanted to start pushing myself toward something new. In order to move forward you have to start where you are. Working as a scenic artist you stretch a lot of muslin over flats in preparation for painting; most backdrops in the Theater are made from muslin. I have a long time and great appreciation and respect for this versatile material
Another aspect that I want to return to in order to help my refine my technique and process is working as a daily painter. I’ll use these smaller, completed daily works as studies and experiments leading to one or two larger works a month. I have learned that the fastest way to improve your work is to is to work.
