Back to watercolor and charcoal for another celebration of the impending Spring. What a wonderful time of the year.
I plan to get out for some Plein air work this Sunday or Monday or maybe Sunday and Monday, weather permitting. The forecast for both days looks good for some early morning work, my favorite time to get out amongst ’em. I want to try a new approach for working out of doors; something akin to a line and wash using charcoal and watercolor. I don’t know where or how this is going to go or what it will look like but that’s the fun part, the leap of faith, the journey, the adventure, the celebration.
notes and quotes
The last couple of days have been very warm and dare I say it, almost muggy. Today is a different story as muggy gives way to rain and the high temperature was around midnight falling all through the day. It probably won’t be cold enough for ice and snow but it is about 30 degrees colder this afternoon than yesterday. There were Robins playing and drinking in the puddles by the drive. I’m working on some preliminary sketches.
I owe a great debt to the Burchfield Penney Art Center for access to his journals and the insights they offer.
Here [s a blessing and a prayer from the master!
