Dance 27, the hidden language…graphite and acrylic
Dance 27 is the second with a new focus. The figure at rest, the moments of quiet, reflection and preparation. The dancer still must exist in space but there is pause in the dance to rest and gather.
“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. ” – Chuck Close
I took the quote from a blog I follow and reblogged last Sunday because I have rarely ever heard it expressed better. It is the difference between the artist and the dilettante. In creating my own artist’s statement I began with the phrase, The art is in the doing… If you ain’t making art you ain’t an artist.
I have completed the Dance, the hidden Language project.
My next project is going to be hands, Dancing Hands is the current working title. I haven’t set the parameters yet but then they will probably change change in the process anyway.
“The creation of art is the passion. The completion of art only ignites another creation.” –Jeffrey Breslow
